A final shout out to Royal Star angler Gary Vincent who enters our record books with his behemoth California Yellowtail that weighed in shoreside at an impressive 85.6 pounds. At sea I called the weight conservatively at 83 confident that the official weight on land would be greater. By a wide margin Gary's giant is the largest yellowtail that I have seen landed in the 34 years that I have been working in the long range fishery; and is the largest yellowtail ever landed at Alijos Rocks in my memory. Regardless of history this is a catch of a lifetime for which Gary is deserving of all our recognition. Most importantly this achievement could not happen to a nicer person.
