A final shout out to Royal Star angler Gary Vincent who enters our record books with his behemoth California Yellowtail that weighed in shoreside at an impressive 85.6 pounds. At sea I called the weight conservatively at 83 confident that the official weight on land would be greater. By a wide margin Gary's giant is the largest yellowtail that I have seen landed in the 34 years that I have been working in the long range fishery; and is the largest yellowtail ever landed at Alijos Rocks in my memory. Regardless of history this is a catch of a lifetime for which Gary is deserving of all our recognition. Most importantly this achievement could not happen to a nicer person. Congratulations Gary from the Royal Star crew and ownership team. We are honored to share in your incredible catch. Here is one more image of Gary and his trophy. Job well done!!!!
