Another action packed day aboard the Royal Star. After a comfortable night on the anchor we pointed her northwest in search of both tuna fish and yellowtail on kelps. Luckily we were able to capitalize on a nice kelp and pick up a load of smaller grade yellowtail.

We continued our journey back up in high hopes for a top off on nice grade bluefin. After a few more kelps that produced a couple more yellowtail we finally made it to the grounds. Not long after we found a few impressive schools of tuna that latched on to us. With very little sand left in the hourglass the fish began to go into bite mode. Damn near everyone had one on. After plenty of hard fought battles we gathered up 5 more 100# bluefin out of our whooper school and called it a trip.

As for tomorrow, we will be departing on a 3 day voyage with Tim behind the helm. We’ll check back in both on our web reports and instagram. If you don’t already know, we post short snippets/videos that showcase both our reports and give a better visual of what is to come when you come fishing aboard the Royal Star.
