Trophies

What a way to finish off another epic trip. Yesterday we fished along the coast for the usual suspects, yellowtail, bonito, barracuda, bass and some other miscellaneous bottom critters. With steady action going on all day and everyone having something tasty dish to tag it was time to fish some trophies.
From the coast we made a 110 mile move out to the west in search for our friends the bluefin tuna. The only way this was possible was by Mother Nature providing a window in the weather to fish our last known zones. Luckily our code boats and us were able to locate the biomass producing a handful of nice kite bites and a bonus 50# yellowfin tuna. With the tuna fish taken off the list, our next objective was to produce an opportunity for everyone to either get a bite or land a fish. The only way this would be possible is the small amount of time we had in the dark. Fortunately we were able to locate 3 nice batches of fish that produced 16 nice grade fish mostly in the 80-140# range with our biggest weighing 204#. In total we snagged 24 beautiful grade bluefin and 1 trophy sized yellowfin tuna. With that being said, we all came to the conclusion that this trip was a total success featuring a true long range fishing trip and catching some trophies along the way.
Tomorrow we depart for 7 with Tim behind the wheel. Please enjoy some of the photos taken tonight!
